About us

The Graduate Center for Medicine combines all areas of the Medical Dean's Office that deal with the topic of doctoral studies: from the central doctoral office, to the Medical Research School and the PhD program, to the office for doctorate matters.

All doctoral researchers of the faculty register their doctoral projects at the Medical Research School (medRSD). On their way to a successful thesis they will be supported by a broad range of workshops tailored to their specific needs.
The medRSD is part of the dean's office and is represented by a spokesperson and board of directors.

Through the PhD program, doctoral researchers acquire the international degree "Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Sciences" or Dr. rer. med. The target group of the program are graduates of life sciences with an interest in in-depth scientific work in basic medical research.

The office for doctorate matters oversees the formal examination process from the submission of the thesis, the appointment of reviewers, and the disputation to the presentation of the certificate at the faculty's graduation ceremony.

The central doctoral office is the first point of contact for all questions concerning doctoral studies at the Medical Faculty of HHU.
